(As a quick side note, I thought this would be much longer. I hadn't noticed that this was a 'pamphlet' poetry book, so to speak, but that's what made it all the more impressive).
This made for a quick but powerful read. Each poem hit the mark and delivered its message across, and did so surprisingly in such simple and accessible language. It really pointed to Shire's skill, which I'm a bit familiar with after reading about her in various online articles and seeing quotes from her work being circulated around. All the poems worked beautifully together and the title was even more powerful. Simple, straightforward, but honest, just the kind of poetry I needed lately.
