Paprika

Paprika - Yasutaka Tsutsui I suffered so much through this book that I couldn't get any further than what I managed to read. There were a lot of things wrong with this book, in my opinion. There were far too many characters and their names were so similar that I couldn't keep track of them all. I usually am fascinated by Japanese literature and names especially, but here it was a painful experience to go through. The plot line was very slow and was excruciatingly difficult to keep up with. I found myself easily lost along the way and couldn't remember what i was actually reading. But this book failed mostly in that it didn't keep my interest. I have been having a very rough patch right now with schoolwork, among other things, and usually I pick up a book to keep me distracted during my spare time. This book I avoided at all cost. There was scientific jargon I didn't follow, characters that were empty and felt like shadows on the page, and a plot that felt neither hot nor cold, flatlining all the way through. I thought this would be quite an exciting read after reading the summary, but alas, I was proven wrong. Even to get as far as I did was a struggle for me and failed in being a distracting or entertaining read. I'm rather disappointed with this one, more in comparison to the other bad reads I have come across lately.
